2595 vs 2460

I just replaced my 2460 with a 2595. There are some differences that I wanted to throw out there.
First, there is no security option: requiring a pass code at power on. I guess these things are becoming so inexpensive that Garmin didn't feel the need.
Second, the on screen icons for favorites are now these monochrome green and white things. The selection is way down. I preferred the old ones with a little more imagination, plus more choices. When I transferred my favorites, they all became a green square with a heart in the middle. I hoped I could find the file with those small icons on the 2460 and copy them over. I was unable to locate a folder where they reside. Does anyone know if that is possible?
Accessing favorites will take some getting used to. The 2460 is similar to the LM50 and 255W I had before. The 2595 is a whole new experience.
I like the options for the dashboard appearance on the map screen. Not all of them have the same data available. The 2460 was nice in that you can choose whether it is on the bottom or along the side. Changing what fields are shown is easy on the 2460. I have not tried changing data fields on the 2595.
I bought the 2595 from Factoryoutletdotcom and it is a refurb unit. I have had good luck with other refurb electronics in the past.
I had bought a battery for the 2460 at the same site. It worked flawlessly for one long trip, but does not charge at all any more. I opened it back up and rechecked the connections and all seems to be ok. If the unit won't hold a charge, then I'm afraid doing a firmware update won't work, since there is a need to restart the unit while disconnected from the computer. I called them and the guy on the phone was getting ready to give me a Return #. I asked if I could just get a store credit. He said that was acceptable, but it has not been finalized yet. He said they did not want the battery back. Naturally, I disposed of the original packaging once it was successfully installed.

Couple thoughts on the 2460

I have the 2450, and it has been some time since a firmware update, and I don't expect another one since it is a 3+year old model.

In the event of a firmware update, I found I can use my cell phone charger and it will power up like it is in the car. (It is an LG phone charger if it matters). If you don't have a cell phone charger that would work, after you download the firmware to the device, bring it to the car for the initial powerup while it installs the firmware.

I HAVE 2595

That my wife uses when we go on a trip, to find restaurant and fast food when we need to take a brake. Also to see where I am going.
