POI BMP question

I have looked through this forum and have not found the answer, or might have over looked it.

How do I get the BMP file to show up on the map, I can only see the BMP when I tap on the location.

What I would like is to have all the POI's in my file to so up on the map. Is this possible??

Thanks in advance.

In general, the appearance of icons is governed by the current "zoom level" and the amount of "Map Detail" you have set. These are the only two parameters you can play with - and there are probably differences between units. Of course, the size of the .BMP and amount of transparency affects how visible they are.

The icons for Favourites tend to be displayed more readily than POI's, so maybe that approach will give you what you want. In this case, you can only choose from the unit's in-built symbols, not an external .BMP file. Either convert them to gpx files and transfer them to the unit with Mapsource, or call them up on screen from 'Custom Pois' and press "Save".

There is a way of having them appear at zoom levels of your choosing - but it would involve embedding them in a transparent map ...are you ready to open that can of worms yet? smile

Most units will only display custom bmp's at the 300ft zoom level and closer.
I keep my map detail to medium. Works fine for me.
It also keeps my hands out of the worms..lol
