other updates
In addition to the 4.70 software, WebUpdater also updated the keyboard files and something called "3597 Language Text". These updates put back a number of non English files in folders \Keyboards and \Text. I have now gone in and removed the non-English files ... no reason to be taking up space for smething I don't use.

Only one change so far
The only thing that I've noticed on the 3597 since 4.07 was installed was something many might not see. I use POI Loader to install the Custom POI to the SD card installed in the nuvi. Prior to 4.70, upon the 1st boot it prompts if you want to move the newly found POI on the SD card to the nuvi. I've always selected No and Don't ask again... It doesn't prompt until POI Loader has changed the .gpi file. I've verified that the new POI did indeed install to the card and that they didn't somehow automatically migrate to the nuvi. So for now, it saves a step after I update my POIs. Life is good.

I wonder what they consider a longer route and what they did? I never had a problem calculating long routes before.

Dunno. I've calculated trips for the East Coast to the West Coast on a 2597 without problems. Takes a while, but it calculates.

After update, warning screen appears on every use
Installed with GE without issue. I've noticed that the "warning" screen now appears every time the unit comes out of sleep mode and stays on the screen for a few seconds unless I press the "agree" button. I thought that, before, that screen only appeared when I restarted the unit. If it did appear every time, it certainly disappeared quickly.

That seems to have appeared with the latest firmware update to your unit. Yes, GE probably installed it. I noticed it last week. Annoying, but not a deal breaker.

the "can't calculate...route too long" message more than once. And the route really wasn't very long.

You may need to do a reset of your Nuvi after the firmware update. I haven't seen that message for a while now, even on long routes.
