The only people opposing the removal are the ones that are probably getting kick backs. The voters should prevail.

Traditional methods are more likely to be unfair.
...
Many of us dislike the method used to ticket motorists and see it as a fundamentally unfair process. That doesn't mean we favor running red lights or speeding. Just use more traditional methods.
What makes a RLC ticket "fundamentally unfair"? What makes "traditional methods" fair? or fairer? Contrast this to getting a Parking ticket.
I think a RLC ticket is more likely to be issued without prejudice by a computer program. With the computer likely to not have any prejudice which often exist with traditional methods being unfair as the cop may want to give you a ticket for some reason unrelated to your driving.
fair?
What makes a RLC ticket "fundamentally unfair"?
It's like hunting.. Using guns against the animals is unfair as the animals don't have guns with 20x, night vision scopes to shoot back with.
What makes "traditional methods" fair? or fairer? Contrast this to getting a Parking ticket.
Go hunting with only your bare hands whilst you are broad beam bare added and naked.. That would make it fair!
My position haven't changed.. The penalties aren't stiff enough.. Run a red light, get a ticket by a cop, the ticket is $5,000 and 6 months loss of licence for the 1st offense.
Subsequent violations are increased penalties, longer loss of privilege and incarceration.
That makes it fair for all.
Never argue with a pig. It makes you look foolish and it anoys the hell out of the pig!
Work from your original statement

By the way, 60,000 years ago, humans were hunting in the way you described and have managed to drive to extinction a number of large animals.
But - "Hunting" has nothing to do with "traditional" methods of being ticketed for running a RLC - which is being pulled over by an officer. That is what I asked tomturtle to discuss.
I brought up parking tickets because they just appear on your windshield and you do not interact with the ticketing person.
Assuming you are adopting tomturtles' viewpoint, exactly what is "unfair" about committing a violation of traffic rules and being issued a citation through the mail? In the case of the RLC, there is proof that the violation occurred (and yes there are those very rare instances of errors that are ballyhooed by those opposed to cameras). If an officer thinks that he observed you run a red light (but in truth you did not),and gives you a ticket, you have no recourse except perhaps the leniency of the traffic court.
In the case of a RLC ticket, you get no points - that favors the person getting the RLC ticket and seems "unfair" to the person ticketed by an officer.
