Watching Movies on Dezl 760

Can you watch movies on the Garmin Dezl 760? I know it is capable of such a feat, but there isn't a program on it to utilize it. I would imagine being able to watch a weather report broadcast from the local area would be great, and with the screen size and location, would be perfect.
Is it possible to install a player on it, like VLc to play your movie library while waiting on a shipper to load you?

There

There is video input on the Dezl but it's for backup camera compatibility. Whether that compatibility would also, in theory, make it possible to watch video on the GPS I have no idea.

Surely you're joking

You would be breaking distracted driving laws in most states and provinces. Watching a movie would be a huge distraction and is the reason that video players are not allowed in the front of cars.

Cars that allow it, only allow it when the car is not moving.

It's far worse than texting and I suspect it could result in a careless or dangerous driving charge, especially if an accident resulted in death or injury.

Not Joking

There are times when a truck driver is sitting at a shipper waiting to be loaded, or waiting for a 30 min break to pass. Other uses for a movie, even while driving down the road my include listening to it as if it were an audio book. There are reasons far beyond the mundane thought of watching it while traveling down the interstate at 65 mph, but then again, watching a good Fast and Furious movie puts the driver in a euphoric state of being while driving.

No Movie Capability

He did say "while waiting on a shipper to load you? . I would hope that is the only time for the intended use.

Using a program such as VLC Player will not work since it's a Windows\Mac based software. I highly doubt the Dezl 760 input jack can be used for anything other than a backup camera.

If you want to watch movies while waiting for the loading or unloading of your truck, why not just get an inexpensive automotive DVD player.

I agree that not everyone trying to play a movie is watching it.

I have every episode of a couple tv shows ( Frasier, King of the Hill) on my phone and laptop, and I use one or the other to play them when I drive. I dont watch, I just listen. It's comforting to me when I'm having a rough day or its a long drive. I dont think ANYONE is trying to watch a movie on their screen when they drive.

hard to ignore

Somehow, I worry that it could be hard to avoid the video. If you were pulled over and the police saw it, I doubt that they would believe you when you said you were only listening to the movie.

If you really only listen, then put it in the back seat and turn up the volume.

I see far too many people weaving on the road and crossing the center line because of texting, to want see anyone add yet another distraction. It was recently said that texters cause more accidents than drunks.

Nothing to worry about

Avoiding teenage kids texting on their cell phones, and middle aged adults checking their facebook is a much more prevalent worry then someone listening to a movie that is face down or out of reach. Hell, watching a movie isn't much different then those that rubber-neck at an accident scene as they coast by, and typically cops don't bother with them unless involved in another wreck.
I prefer audio books, but more and more people tell me that listening to a good movie is as good.
