Some POI entries missing NUVI

I maintain a library of thousand of POIs and have been doing this for years with no problems. I just refreshed the device and some entries of one POI file do not show. I have erased the device and then loaded it with just the one POI file and it still show only about 50 entries of a 108 entry POI file. When running POI loader it says it loaded 108 entries but about half are missing. Sorting the csv file doesn't fix it and doesn't change the population that's missing. When browsing the POI file, if I use the search function to look for some that are missing, it finds them. The unit is a 2555, latest firmware and the latest POI loader software.

Garmin tech support has duplicated the problem with my POI file and are researching the matter. She is in Oregon and sees a different population but with about the same amount missing and can successfully search and find one that not shown.

Anyone else see anything similar?

Supposed to do that

All of the entries are there.

The nuvi will only display the 50 closest (as the crow flies) locations to you. It does this because can you imagine how long it would take the device to calculate the distance and direction to all of the Walmart or B of A locations? You would not like that at all.

You can verify this by setting your location at some other city (search near another city) and see different locations.

right on

You beat Garmin with providing the answer. She had to research it to find out why. They are going to rethink if that limit should be elevated.

Thanks for the explanation.

what else is new?

It is quite common for some of the very talented members to beat Garmin to the answer. However, I hope you don't actually bet any money on Garmin doing anything about it.
