I turn on our 2011 I think 2350LMT, and the top says Harbor Freight Tools 33 min no traffic.
Huh? I don't remember ever setting that as a destination in 3 years, but it is a favorite.
I enter the destination and the thing never calculates, just goes back to the same map with Harbor Freight.
Reboot, same thing. I'm thinking come on another Garmin is toast? Upon the 2nd reboot, it would accept a destination and calculated.
What's going on? It has the latest map and firmware as of the Sunday before the Redskins/Seattle game. Will they ever get the bugs out?!
My first guess would be that you have Trending turned on. With that on, Garmin tries to guess where you want to go. When I had that feature turned on, If I left around 6AM, the Garmin would automatically assumed I wanted to go to a specific destination.
After I turned off the trending, that stopped.
Just a thought.
It would be helpful if we knew whether or not you had recently navigated to Harbor Freight. Look in recent places.
Reboot, same thing. I'm thinking come on another Garmin is toast? Upon the 2nd reboot, it would accept a destination and calculated...
It seems that two odd things are happening:
- Since you don't remember ever setting a route to a HF as a destination, myTrends is not following its Garmin-FAQ:
since myTrends should not be offering a suggested destination that has not frequently been a destination you manually requested. You have met the other myTrends requirements (HF is a Favorite and you've used myTrends for a while now). Either something is wrong with your device's software or (not unlikely) Garmin's FAQ isn't exactly right and simply starting off in a given direction towards a Favorite, even one that's never been a route destination, may create a myTrends suggestion, especially if no other Favorites are nearby.
- The 2nd problem is that your device is ignoring your requested route and cycling you back to HF but that after a reboot or two, it will work.
My suggestions are what I'd give whenever something really odd is going on:
-Power down and reboot the device. (You've already done this and I'm pretty sure the 2350 doesn't have a sleep mode so it should be fully powering down whenever you use the power button.)
- Check your device's free storage space and if it's nearly full, make more room (for example, delete unneeded voices after making a full computer backup of the entire device)
- Clear your trip log
- If none of the above work, do a hard reset of your device. This can clear up many very odd issues. I think it's probable that a hard reset will also clear and reset your myTrends data and this may help as well.
And finally, since this is almost certainly only going to occur with myTrends enabled, think about disabling myTrends.
I will say that on the devices I own that offer myTrends, I've not experienced the issue you're reporting. My devices only make a suggestion for Favorites I've saved that I also frequently choose as a destination.
