the rest area poi has numerous flaws. Just traveled through San Antonio,TX and GPS stated rest area when there was none

Rest Areas Combined?
Are you referring to MrKenFL's Rest Areas Combined file? If so, let him know specifically about each error so the next revision can be updated. It's only through reports from us that the site's POI files can keep up to date.

I assume you are referring to to the Rest Areas Combined file and not the Texas stand alone rest area file .
If it's the Rest Area Comined file send me the problems via my contact and I'll address them !

Tour guide?
@bigrigger1957 ... Do you by any chance have your alert on the Rest Area file set up as a Tour Guide instead of a standard proximity alert? If so, that can cause false positives.

Also, as pointed out by MrKenFL, I see two Texas-specific rest areas POI files here at The Factory, one last updated in 2009 and the other in 2012. If either of these was used by the OP, then delete them and install MrKenFL's RestAreasCombined file instead.
On the other hand, if Mr Ken's file was used, then the OP should send Ken the corrections bigrigger noted.
