I don't know if my questions
I don't know if my questions is redundant or along the same lines as the above but....I would like to know if its possible (and how to ) associate bmp's with pre-loaded POI's on my Nuvi 360. Makes sense?

Look up to the top of the page here...
see the link for icons? Click that. You'll see the icon library. And at the bottom of that page, a link to direction on how to make 'em work.

Don't believe you can do it with the built in pois

I believe you can only change the icons for the custom pois.
Garmin StreetPilot c530, Mapsource
I miss-took what you were going for
It does not address my question.
Thought you meant previously loaded custom POIs, and not the installed on the unit ones. As previously noted, you're stuck with those as they are.

Go to "Managing and Using Waypoints"
Scroll down to number 9. This is for the 60CS. Not sure if it works for other units. But it might be worth a try.
Custom Way Point Symbols
Using Customized Waypoint Symbols
You can add customized symbols for your waypoints. MapSource includes 8 default custom waypoint symbols located on your computer in "My Documents\My Garmin\Custom Waypoint Symbols." You can open these symbols with a graphic editor and use them as templates for creating your own symbols.
You can add up to 64 custom waypoint symbols. These symbols must be in .bmp format and must be named numerically from "000.bmp" to "063.bmp." Custom waypoint symbols can be 16 x 16 pixels (small) or 24 x 24 pixels (large) and up to 32-bit color.
After you have created customized waypoint symbols, you can add them to a waypoint using the Symbol field in the Waypoint Properties window. See Editing Waypoint Properties for more information.
PS But what we need to know is after doing what it says how do you load them to the GPS Unit

The rejoinder to my post was going to be that I don't think you can transfer those custom icons from MapSource to the unit.
Hey Auggie
Try ximage, what you seek may be found in the help file.

Mapsource with nuvi
I have two questions regarding using Mapsource with nuvi.
1) How does one go about adding their own image to the waypoint symbol legend to transfer onto the nuvi unit? I see that there are 8 custom symbol locations. I saw Motorcycle Mama's post but I think this may be possible. I have seen etrax and legend screens with the changed features but will it work with nuvi?
2) When searching for a place, the unit currently retrieves only 50 results. In the Mapsource edit preferences under the "find" tab there is a field that says "show this many found places" and lists 50. Can this number be changed to a higher number and transfered to the nuvi to change nuvi's return preferences?
.
1. You can't.
2. Nope
Bummer... So there is no way
Bummer... So there is no way to add to the nuvi more waypoint symbols?
.
No.
You can load Custom Icons to go with your Custom POIs, though.
