Software crash with Garmin C530

I have had my C530 for about 1 month with no problems. Today, I turned it off and then on again and got a message that the firmware updated with a confirm button. After that the unit could not find any satelites. Location map was from where I turned it off (on? same location). Tried restarting several times and it skipped the normal startup screen and went directly to the security code. After entering security code, had same problem....i.e. same map and searching for satelites.
Cured problem by reconnecting to my PC and reloading the current software from Garmin's site.
Has anyone experienced the same problem. It makes me wonder about taking a long trip without the PC.

When I first got my unit, I had a freeze up....really PO'ed me too...I did a hard reset (pop the cover and hit the reset button) and since then (hope this doesn't jinx me) it has been no problem at all!
The C5xx technology is light years ahead of the older units in terms of screen visibility and for that reason alone I am glad to have it

I took it back....
...and bought a c550
Besides loving the features, it seems to be more robust...

FYI: Problem repeating
For the third time in two weeks, when I started my 530 I got the message that the firmware update had just occurred. (These times are not consecutive). I have been using the reset button (thank you) to correct the problem. I just tried reloading the software. If that doesn't work, I will call Garmin.
Other than that, the unit works great.
