FiOS

I've seen the same commercials. But, I already had symmetrical 25/25 speeds. I guess a lot more subscribers were on older plans than I thought.

We love the outskirts of town but we are very limited in services.
The only unlimited internet service we can get is 10/2.
We have phone and electricity in our area but no cable, gas, water, etc.
Don't get me wrong, we do love it here and have no city tax but FIOS is what I am dreaming of. And like my husband tells me about FIOS "Only in your dreams"

I’m glad to see Verizon is attempting to gain market share in the broadband arena with their latest FIOS promotion. The revenue generated by FIOS is supposed to support expansion of the network. Unfortunately, there is stiff competition from the cable and satellite providers.

Like Mgarledge, my wife and I enjoy country living and wouldn’t have it any other way. It comes at a price though and I echo Mgarledge’s sentiment about the availability of FIOS.

The cost associated with providing the service in rural areas is extremely prohibitive due to the great distances involved and the limited number of potential subscribers. It is quite likely that rural broadband services will eventually come from as yet undeveloped technology like direct satellite / Wifi or 6G cellular networks.

no thanks

a) upload and download has always been the same since 2009 b) the fine print said ads would be sent to vzw mobile phones upon joining the rewards program--not sure how that would work if one did not have Verizon for cell phones

Thanks for the Info....

very insightful.

I applied on my PC and get confirmation from email. My upload was not the same as the download for my home computer setup.I guess it depends on the plan you have.

From Verizon posted on web.

Now it's getting even faster, but Verizon isn't boosting download speeds again -- those will stay the same as customers get matching upload speeds on every plan. On the fastest tier (previously 500Mbps down / 100Mbps up), speeds will increase by 5x to 500Mbps, and most customers will see their speeds double. New customers can get the symmetrical speeds right away, and they'll roll out to existing customers throughout the fall. To go immediately to the front of that list FiOS subscribers can sign up for the MyRewards+ customer loyalty program, which is free, and pretty much just requires inputting your birthdate.
