Maybe garminmapitis is contagious???

BobDee wrote:

Loadng every map update that comes down the pike, is like drinking a glass of water everytime you walk past a faucet.

Perhaps a side effect of a medical condition? Diabetes is said to cause excessive thirst. Perhaps craving for the next map update is caused by garminmapitis...

On a side note: garminmapitis did not exist when Rand McNally ruled the world with paper maps, most seemed content when they unfolded (but could not fold back up) old maps stored in the jockey box.

Garminmapitis

That's it!
Now that is funny. And a lot of folks suffer from it.

If you suffer from Garminmapitis, by all means download the map. There must be a cure being worked on, that will at least reduce the shakes.

2015.30 manifest

Garmin has uploaded the manifest for 2015.30 (http://download.garmin.com/RMU/_download_manifests/NA/2015_3...). So if past practices hold, we should see the map update within the next couple of weeks.

Thanks, good to know.

I hope that when 2013.30 comes out, we can start a new thread like "2014.30 is out" rather than continuing this thread.

Agreed.

I agree. This thread has too much non-relevant chat, which is OK for fun. But when we get into the actual map update issues it would be good to have a new thread that is more "on topic".

Very

Very true!

The problem is - how are we going to keep people from posting questions and comments to this thread even when there is a thread dealing specifically with the actual issues around the download, installation, and use of 2015.30.

It would take a moderator locking this thread to any further posts and I'm not sure I've seen that happen on this site.

When you have the new thread started just ask Angela. She will let you know if she can do that or not. Never hurts to ask.

This thread with the anticipation. etc. etc. etc. is more fun than getting the new map updates.

Testing GE each time is the real entertainment!

After many stumbles during the last few map updates, the latest went completely fine even on my old, battered XP laptop. Hopefully they are done with the "beta testing" wink and we can all finally live in peace with Garmin Express. We shall see! But if I get two glitch free installs in a row, I think I'll finally be a true believer.

Preview

It appears both Yahoo! Maps and Here.com have the new map loaded, so you can get a preview of what updates were made on 2015.30. Not a whole lot new in my neck of the woods, unfortunately.

More pages

We are only on page 2.....we have to get more before Garmin releases the new maps.

You are under the assumption that Garmin won't release a new map unless this thread gets to be a certain length.

You need to get everyone buzzed about the new version before release. More pages, more buzz, more demand.

Ha, you'll never see me wait in line on a cold November day to be the first to get a new map update. Oh wait, I'd never do that for an Apple product either.

ok... so you wouldn't wait in line for an Apple product....

I guess the question is...... would you wait in line for a Water Mellon?? How about a Pineapple?... perhaps a Winnebago or a whole herd of Winnebago's??? You know Winnebago's run in herds right? smile

Next Week

Next week will be a big one for update junkies like me.
First Patch Tuesday for Windows, Android 5 for the tablet, and then a new map.
I won't have time to go anywhere!

That's Cool!

I like that, MikeG1!

Used To Wait With Anticipation

I used to wait with anticipation for new maps as I was finding many errors and changes need for the maps. I was reporting them and enjoyed seeing them incorporated into the new maps. However, the last two years or so, my areas of travel have been fixed and are stable. Map updates now are not giving me any additional fixes or features.

Map Update

I have a question for all..I know all of us are looking forward for a new map update.I have update all the 2015.10-2015.20-Map version

I do not see any different the map they look the same, same Poi icon..and I am sure they do not make no new road every 6 months.

Here come my question ?

What does the 2015.30 version have, that the 2015.20,did not have ??

Hard

Hard to tell, but you could expect there to be hundreds of updates, changes, deletions, etc. in any map update. Just because there doesn't appear to be any changes around your area, or mine, doesn't mean there aren't many near where some other person drives on a regular basis.

likely....

November 12th is a great day. Garmin may want to celebrate it and release their next update.

I guess I am silly but on the 12th I will be 69. Age never bothered me. I am just glad to be getting older. It is the best time of my live.

So Garmin, release the map on November 12th.......

Skipping Updates

Does anyone know off-hand how many lifetime map updates can be skipped before Garmin cuts off the lifetime maps associated with the GPS unit?

Thanks!

I have seen it also

It is out there, just doesn't seem to be released for the Garmin Update Crowd like us.

Can someone get it for me???

All this excitement has tired me out.

I am going to take a nap.

Can someone get the update for me please? And install it on all my GPS's?

ericruby wrote:

Thanks!

The new terms for lifetime updates from Garmin state that a device not updated for 24 months will lose lifetime updates.

These terms are new enough that I don't think the 2-yr period cutoff has occurred yet for anyone, so it's anybody's guess as to how stringently this will be enforced—and whether a call from a cutoffee to Customer Support may have the possibility to reinstate updates. I have no plans to test this.

Although CraigW has already answered this question, I wanted to mention that the factory has several places to look for answers.

The Glossary of Terms and Links contains an entry "Lifetime Maps Terms and Conditions" which gave the same information.

When you have a question (and don't need to post just to satisfy the weekly posting requirement) you can check out the Glossary or the Index.
