I don't have a sound file associated with the red light camera POI. However, when I near a red light intersection, it pings. I have it set for 350 feet. The problem is that it pings about 5 times and even after I pass the intersection. This is really annoying. A warning once or twice before the intersection would be sufficient. Is there any way to change this.
Settings for nuvi 765
I have a 760, not a 765, and they have different firmware. But maybe they have the same menu structure.
There is a setting for proximity alerts - either single or continuous.
From the "Where to?" page, touch
Tools/Settings/(page down)/Proximity Points/Change/Audio/
then you get a choice of "Single Tone" or "Continuous Alerts." Set it on "Single Tone" and touch "OK." Then OK or back out of it. Do not touch "Restore."

Thanks.
I will try it and let you know if it works.

Just checked and proximity alert was already set to Single Tone.
just to be clear
Just to be clear on your problem, what is the name of the red light camera file you load into your unit? If the file name has any digits, they are interpreted as a speed alert and will cause multiple alerts whenever you are going faster than whatever it is using as it's speed trigger. If you use TourGuide, then alerts are sounded whenever you are in a radius of the unit equal to the distance you have set rather than just approaching the unit as you drive.
Illiterate? Write for free help.
Red light file is loaded as a speed alert
The problem is that it pings about 5 times and even after I pass the intersection.
Since an alert is given after the POI is passed, it is probable that the Red Light Camera file is loaded as a speed alert.
One way this could happen, like Box Car says, is if the filename has a number in it. If so, rename the file so it does not have a number and run POI Loader again.
If you are running POI Loader in manual, when the red light camera file comes up for loading, the default is for a speed alert. Click the radio button for "alert when you get close to a point" and enter the distance you prefer so that the red light file will be loaded as a proximity alert.
Try these suggestions before we go into even more complicated reasons for this.

Another thought
bsp131, has this problem always been this way or were red light camera alerts working properly at one time and now they are not?
Is the firmware on your 765 up-to-date? I seem to remember that I had this same problem with multiple alerts on my 760 about two years ago and it stopped happening with the next firmware update. Like I said, the firmware for these two units is not the same but it could be alike in this respect.

I have a 760 as well. Went through the exact steps as dobs108. Thanks!
thank you.
I will reload it. I got it from this site so I don't think the filename has numbers in it but I will make sure that I don't have the default set.
I am not sure if this is a new problem or not, it just became very annoying lately. Maybe b/c there are so many red light cameras in my neighborhood.
Cameras in your neighborhood

If you are not annoyed enough, there are speed cameras coming to your neighborhood, starting with the school at 300 New Hyde Park Road just north of Jericho Turnpike. Be sure to download the speed camera file as well. The speed cameras may be operating even though this is summer.
