Screen protector

I bought a Zagg Invisible Shield for my 3590LMT. It was easy to install. I keep my GPS in a case when not in use. I opened it up one day to find a significant wrinkle in the protector. Something had really impacted and slid across the screen surface. I don't know if there would have been any damage to the screen if it were unprotected. The wrinkle in the protector ironed itself out over the course of a week. At that instant, I was glad I had the protector over the screen. When it's time to replace my GPS with a newer model, I will buy a screen protector for it. It won't break the bank and it might save your bacon someday.

that reduces anything, including glare makes the screen more difficult to read in full sunlight.

you will need an SD card. These units have at least 8GB of internal and after cleaning the unused voices/files you should have enough room for the next 10 years or so. Remember you can't store music files and books on these units now. POI files don't take up as much room as some of the unneeded voice files. But if you are insistent you need an SD card, 16GB is probably the largest you should consider.

16gb

I read that I shouldn't go any more than 8GB, because anything above 8GB will interfere with GPS itself, how true is it?

Not Needed

I have the same GPS. There's plenty of room on mine without having to use a memory card. Remove the voices you don't need to free up extra space if you want even more.

So far I've not needed a memory card for anything.

I did put in a 2gb card though because I had it laying around collecting dust. It will be there if I ever need it.

Just about any card will work but I would stick with a good name brand like Sandisk just to have better reliability. As to size an 8gb card will double the capacity of the unit itself. You can pick up a good 8gb card on Amazon for less than $7.00. You will probably want to use a class 4 or higher card for better speed.
The higher the class the faster the speed of the card but a class 4 will work just fine.

For me, I didn't know where

For me, I didn't know where to get a protector for this GPS and I've already started using the GPS so it's kinda too late razz.

On another note,do you guys use the audio book feature?

Nope

I don't see the purpose of having the audio book feature on the gps. I have a iPad and iPhone where I can stream music and books to my car via Bluetooth. I think this feature may eventually be obsolete similar to the ability to play mp3 music files via the gps unit. IMHO
