Newbie Here

Hi all,
I bought my first GPS yesterday (at Best Buy) and what a blast. It is the Nuvi 350. My question is, can I assume that all the maps are current? When does one need to update? I live in Maryland.
Happy Holidays everyone.
Thanks,
Hal

The current map version

The current map version for the nuvi 350 is 8. There are yearly updates.

Software updates

Depends on what softwares you are asking about.
The interface (firmware) version is 4.30 and you can update this for free from garmin.com. It is a good idea to download Garmin Webupdate software for autmatical download into your GPS and subscribe to receive notification for new interface update.
As for the maps update it is version 8 and you are qualify to receive the 1 free update from the current one you have now.

You can check the versions of softwares you have now on your GPS by going into "settings" => "system" and click on "About" at the bottom that would be the firmware version
The maps version can be checked by going into "settings" => "map" and click on "map info" at the bottom. It should say something like "City Navigation North America NT v"#.
It the # after "v" is less than 8 than you can place a purchase order that you will not be chaged for when you try to activate it.

Enjoy it.
