Install issue

I attempted to install this update on my Vista Home Premium 64 machine using the upgrade selection on the Basecamp Help menu. It installed OK but wouldn't launch. It gave me a missing .dll error.

I found a solution on the Garmin forum ... Uninstall Basecamp, then reinstall using the link above. That worked for me.

Lots of changes to absorb in this version.

Just to add to your discovery, I found that you need to uninstall Basecamp and then REDOWNLOAD the update using the link provided. Just uninstalling Basecamp and then using the orginal download that displayed the missing .dll error will cause the program to halt with the same error.

So if you've already downloaded the update, and found the .dll error, then you have to download the file a second time.

Maybe one more thing is needed

I followed the method described (uninstall BC, then redownload/install) and it again failed. I just found that after my uninstall, the entire(?) BaseCamp program remained in ProgramFiles(x86)/Garmin even though it no longer appeared in ControlPanel's Programs&Features. After uninstalling BC, I then manually deleted the entire BaseCamp folder in ProgramFiles(x86)/Garmin, then redownloaded/installed. 4.3.1 now works for me.

Extra step works for me!

I also had to take that extra step. Thanks to you both.

Help File Missing

I just clicked Help - Help in Basecamp 4.3.1 and as usual it takes you to a web page, in this case http://static.garmincdn.com/basecamp/4_3/en/Default.htm

Of course the only thing on the page is the message:

FILE NOT FOUND

It probably should read:

Garmin Software Developer Not Found.

I got the same result. Looks like we'll have to uninstall/delete program folder/download/install.

But for my WinXP machine, I don't have to do anything. mrgreen

Basecamp 4.3.1

I have a Windows 8 machine.
I was updating to 2015.10 maps on my Nuvi 750 and W8 computer.

First try the map did not load on computer but 750 was OK.

Then today a couple weeks later tried to load 2015.10 only on computer. Map loaded but when I tried to run Basecamp got the MSVCR90.dll error. Tried to reload Basecamp did not work.

Called Garmin and while waiting checked this forum and found suggestion to delete the Basecamp folder in Program Files (x86). Reloaded Basecamp and everything worked.

About that time I got through to Garmin support. The gentleman I talked to said that deleting the Basecamp folder and reloading basecamp is the cure he would have used.
