What are Smartphone Link and Live Services?

Sometimes referred to as "Smart Link", Smartphone Link (*) is an app from Garmin that pairs a compatible Garmin device with a compatible smartphone. This will give your unit access to Garmin Live Services (**). While some Live Services are free, premium content will require a one time purchase.

Garmin Live Services which are free include:
1. myGarmin messaging which informs you whenever software updates or services are available
2. Current local weather, including forecasts

Premium services include:
1. Live Traffic information which is updated every two minutes
2. photoLive traffic cameras show real-time photos from traffic cameras for learning about traffic and weather conditions.

Live Services are available in:
Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France,
Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, South Africa, Spain, Swedan, Switzerland, United Kingdom, and the United States.

The iPhone Smartphone Link works with these models (note not series):
nüvi 2497, 2577, 2597, 2598, 2797, 2798 with Backup Camera, and 3597
