Keeping The Windmill Alive - Your Last Trip? – May 2014

Saw 10 wild black bears in the Smokey Mountains this pass week. Bears were very active, the most I have ever seen on a trip to Smokey Mountains.

Dallas Fort Worth area. Hot and dry and dusty.

Sweet Home Chicago.

Went to Vancouver, Alaska and Seattle. GPS worked great there.

Just the usual this week, stocking up for Memorial Day.

Not far, but I like to use a route so the distance to the next turn is displayed in tenths of a mile. I usually coast into each turn the last 2000 feet or so.

I thought I had my May windmill but it seems to be lost. No worries. June is just around the corner. Can't believe the year has flown by so fast. Summer has arrived and several planned rides are coming up soon. Will be using the Garmin on a ride to Hico, Texas to the Koffee Kup Family Restaurant. This is definitely the place for home made pies!

Took a long driving trip along the Ohio River on the West Virginia side. Lots of holiday boaters out and about on the river.

Avoided major holiday traffic jam returning home yesterday.

Visited family around Baltimore on Memorial Day. Traffic was pleasantly smoother than expected -all good.

twice recently. Son driving us to grandson's graduation in DC, his "Maps" had us remaining on one road while my Waze directed us to zig-zag through a neighborhood. He was driving according to his Maps, and we soon found out traffic was moving at 2 mph.
Coming home on Tuesday after Memorial Day weekend, Waze popped up with "ETA changed, traffic increasing 6 minutes", then later "New route calculated, save 3 minutes". Just as we exited for the new route, we saw one lane ahead on the Interstate had been closed and traffic ahead was all brake lights.
Wish Waze would indicate the reason for re-routing.

last day in Phoenix area . Nuvi 2595 has been spot on during our week here .
Back aboard Amtrak early Thursday morning and head back to Albany , NY, pick up our car and head back to NH for 2 weeks before heading home to Florida !

Great trip. Used Garmin Nuvi 2450 on extra walking in the cities. Jill worked great... Got us to where we were going and took us back.

Driving all over while visiting families in Southern California.

Went as far south as La Jolla, and I avoided getting on southbound I-5.

My wife and I used my brother-in-law's Nuvi 54 to get us to Chalet Debonne Vineyards in Madison, Ohio. We've only been there about a thousand times, but I had just updated the 54 to 2015.10 and wanted to test it out. Everything was cool.

An aside: the Nuvi 54 has the split-screen Junction View versus my Nuvi 1450's full-screen Junction View. I prefer the full-screen view although I do like the way the split-screen stays visible for a considerably longer time.

And on another note, anyone know if the Nuvi 54 can use the full-screen Junction View?

Toured some back country roads.

Just got back from an extended trip to North Carolina, It was the yearly trip for a family reunion, but I extended the trip a week this year. Did a little more sightseeing during my extra days in NC.
