nuvi 35x7 and 35x8 (GCD File) software version 4.30

I don't think this has been reported yet. There is a new update for the 3597/3598 nuvi as of 4/25/2014. The update page says to install with Garmin Express, but I used Webupdater on my unit.

I agree, I don't think it's been reported before. Thanks for letting us know. I also used WebUpdater with success.

I see that for the 35x7 model, there is also new Help file and new Language Text file available.

I hadn't noticed any problem with the earlier 4.20 software but several of the 4.30 updates sound useful.

The updates went well. I haven't tested it on the road yet.

Thanks for the update. I just updated mine 3597. Not sure how much difference it is going to make.

If

If nothing else it's made a difference to the layout of the Settings - All Settings screen. That screen now shows Updates as the first entry with Map & Vehicle moved to second positon. This is pretty stupid since pressing Updates only provides a help screen that tells you how to get and use Garmin Express. rolleyes

Also now when you plug your 3597 into your computer the "computer/Nuvi icon" screen now reads "Garmin.com/express. rolleyes

Installed 4.30 on my 3597 using GE with no issues.

And if you missed all those, each time the power cord current is lost, you're reminded of Garmin Express yet again during the 15-second pre-blackout. Real subtle. At least they warned us:

4.40 may offer even more incentive with the TTS3 voices. I can imagine hearing Karen now at route's end: "Arriving at Home, on the Left. Now be sure to use Garmin Express to update your maps and software, mate."

I used my nuvi 3597 today

I used my nuvi 3597 today after firmware update. I found that route calculation was lot better today than before.
