City Navigator

I've been considering buying the City Navigator Europe maps for an upcoming trip to England, but it's pretty pricey at $99. Has anyone here used these maps? Are they worth buying?

The maps

The maps will be very good as they are the maps that go into every Nuvi sold in Europe. grin

On the other hand if you only need maps of England or the whole United Kingdom why buy maps for all of Europe. You could just purchase maps of UK for less than than $99. For example Amazon sells the UK maps on an SD card for $38, see

One drawback of SD card maps is they can't be updated so if that's an issue for you then it may not be the best solution.

I have an old one linked

I bought my 1st one on cd and it was linked to my old GPS.

I found out if you buy a map on SD card you can use it when you buy another unit. We now have a newer unit and are going to Europe this Summer so I needed a new map.

I looked on Ebay a couple of months ago and found a new one for $19.99 free shipping. I worried until I received it but it is great. It was new, unopened and a Garmin map.
This is what I got "Garmin City Navigator Europe NT Full GPS Maps 2014.10 MicroSD ". Don't know what year but I think because 2014 it may not be too old.

Look on Ebay and see what you can find.

I bought mine from gpsmapmasters

Another idea.

Another thing to consider is that if you add Europe as a supplemental map, you will not get junction views. So you might want to consider just buying a nuvi with a pre-installed Europe map so you can get full features for the Europe map. Then sell the unit when your trip is over. Your net cost will probably still be less than the cost of the map.

Open Street Map

OpenStreet Map is an worthwhile option.

You cannot beat the price.

Thanks

I missed these responses when they were made. Thanks to each of you for your help. Sorry for the delay.

If today

If I were going back to Europe, and I had not bought my Europe SD card I would take Garmin Viago and the $9.99 Europe maps to Go.

After think about it,even though I have the Europe Maps on Sd for my Nuvi, I would not take the Nuvi.

I took my tablet and my Nuvi and had two things to carry. But now, with Garmin Nuvi, I would buy the Europe Maps to Go and only have to take one item to Europe.

Makes me want to go again, maybe next year...
