1450 will not reset

Unable to factory reset no matter what corner I hold my thumb on when doing a power on.

Also unable to go into diagnostics mode. I don't really want to go into diag but just trying to see if that would work.

I wanted to factory reset since some of my routes shut the unit off until now I have never used the reset.

I found an earlier post of mine

Maybe this can help from an earlier post in the nuvi reset thread:

Power the unit off. Press and hold (and continue to hold) the bottom-right corner of the screen while powering the unit on. Continue to hold the screen until the "Do you want to erase all user data?" prompt appears. Press "yes" and the unit will reboot. Reset all your location settings and user preferences.

If you don't get the "Do you want to erase all..." message, try again until it does. It can easily take several 10s of seconds with a fairly firm "press" to get the screen needed for a hard reset and if you release the corner too early, it will simply start up in normal (non reset) mode. I assume you haven't seen the "Do you want..." warning yet from the Hard Reset to be able to touch "Yes" and proceed.

Good luck.

Make sure to hold power

Make sure to hold power button for about 10 seconds, for the unit to shutdown, and then follow instructions from the above post.

RE: 1450 reset

I was unable to reset mine too! I deleted ALL wpts to clean out & start fresh. then the device would not start back up. It literally took 30-40 tries before the device would start up to load a clean batch of wpt's.

Frustrating when it happens

If you can connect the unit to your computer, try opening up the Nuvi like a disc drive and removing all your user-entered waypoints (in the GPX directory), and then trying to restart it.

Sometimes I've found my unit to get hung up on something in that directory for some reason, and if I clean it out it will finally boot.

More Suggestions

Another suggestion that you may try is to recalibrate your touch screen. Perhaps your finger is not making contact exactly where it needs to be on the bottom right corner of the screen.
Using a stylus gives better accuracy, I use the plastic cap on a Bic Pen exerting light pressure.

Also I would check how much AVAILABLE memory you have left. If using Windows, open Windows Explorer and RIGHT click on the Nuvi drive, then select Properties. This will show you how much available space remains. If too little, that may cause issues.

Another thing you can do is clear your Trip Log.
To do so on your 1490 follow the steps below:
1.Touch Tools
2.Touch My Data
3.Touch Clear Trip Log
4.Touch Yes to confirm

Nuvi 2460LMT 2 Units

no go

I had tried all suggestions many many times to no avail except cleaning out the GPX file.

I did manually delete all the coordinates and recent found but not favorites.

I do have a back-up so will try the gpx and let you know.

Thanks to all who responded.

1450 went crazy after update

I updated my 1450. When I arrive at the destination which I had never been to, it asked me to drive another mile and make U-turn. Back to the destination again. sad

Destination on left?

Was your destination on the left? I see this now and then when the nuvi is avoiding a left turn across traffic. It is one of those instances where you have to use your common sense and ignore what it is telling you to do.

Same issue

I had the same issue when the "map" (which comes from Navteq) had the road on which I was traveling marked as a divided highway. I had to go to just past the place where the "median" ended and do a U-turn to get back to my destination. At that time, Navteq was not aware that there was a special left turn that had been cut out of the divided highway to get into a Walmart. There was not an intersecting road on the right.

With my Garmin, you press the lower right hand copyright information when it comes up.Garmin must like to move the spot to give us major headaches for some reason.Still can't understand why when using the USA area they insist on using letters as default....we use freekin numbers idiots!

I do see on the newer units they now tell you what road you're on, but it's too late for me.

Strange Routes

My 1450 turned right into a parking lot then left on a cross street directing me across the road I was traveling on to McDonald's on the right. It should have turned left at the red light.

Divided Highway?

Were you traveling on a divided highway, by any chance?
