Microphone icon on main screen

I used to have a microphone symbol on the screen with the map. I used to be able to tap on it and it would say "say a command". This was good for finding gas stations or restaurants. I installed an updated map and now it is gone. Tomtom Via

It sounds as if the display of that icon somehow got switched off during your update. Getting it back again should be easy unless something got scrambled in the programming.
Assuming that you are on the driving screen, tap on the center of the screen. This will bring up a menu screen, in the bottom center of which will be an icon labeled "Settings". Tap on that icon and a new menu screen will appear, with a "Voice Commands" icon on the right side. Tap on that icon and a new menu screen will appear with an icon on the top left that says "Unhide voice control icon" (or something very similar - I am going from memory.) Tap on that to enable the microphone icon.

I'm pleased to hear that it worked for you. I was going from memory, and that's a good way to screw things up.
