Borked Favorite Categories after map update

I've been searching/reading about time-stamp and odd numbered categories showing up in favorites and it looks like it has happened to me. I upgraded my dezl from the 2014.30 map to 2014.40 and just noticed this.
At first I thought it was the firmware upgrade (3.70 to 3.80) but I just remembered I've been using it for nearly a week after doing that.
I'm going to use EPE to try and clean them out maybe. Unless I can find a backup, I believe I have one.
I just wanted to throw this out there and see if anyone else is experiencing the same problem.

just as strange

I didn't experience your problem but had just as strange a thing happen when I updated from 2014.30 to 2014.40. Other then sending a route to the 2597 from MapSource I made no other changes. I ran the route the next day and noticed I wasn't getting any voice instructions. When I got home I checked the GPS and found all of my voice files were gone.

Anytime you have a 50-50 chance of getting something right, there's a 90% probability you'll get it wrong.

If the only tool you have is a hammer, every problem quickly resembles a nail. (Maslow's Hammer)

.

I had that problem happen a couple of times when I owned a 1490. It looked to me as if the favourites were overwritten by parts of the trip log. Used EPE to clean up the mess. Occurred randomly (no map update) and never figured out why.

Garmin updates fail to preserve user settings

Unlike phone updates that attempt to save user settings, I have found that Garmin Map updates seem to destroy previous user settings. I had tediously set up blocked routes on my Garmin in order for it to direct me the way I preferred to go, and after every update, the blocks were wiped and I had to start over. This became another nail in my Garmin's coffin.
(I hope that was written in proper English without any objectionable colloquialisms.)
