NUVI 2555 LMT Won't Power Up

I was working on my GPS, using battery power.
I put it into sleep mode and when I tried to turn the unit back on, it would not start.
I have plugged it in and holding down the start button and does nothing. The display is blank. I have tried holding the button for an extended period and still have a blank screen. There is no indication that the battery is charging on the screen and I know my power supply is good.
The unit is less than one year old.
Any suggestions?
OOPS!!!!! Problem Solved
I screwed up. What more can I say. I'm over 65 so I do have the right to blame it on a Senior's Moment.
I had held the start down for an extended period, but not extended enough. Out of desperation, I began talking to myself and myself answered back and suggested that I give it one last try by holding the start for an even longer extended period.
IT WORKED!!!YEH!!

Or do I, not sure myself anymore, those senior moments are occurring far too frequently for me.
It's good you talked to yourself and got some good advice to be a little more patient.
