Garmin Express Updates Happening Frequently

Garmin Express is being updated rapidly the last couple days. Keep it up to date.

I've been in contact with Garmin regarding a few problems with it, very old problems. Hopefully these issues will be addressed.

--
When you are dead, you don’t know that you are dead. It is only difficult for the others. It is the same when you are stupid.

Thanks

Tried updating from within v2.3.7, but failed, so have to re-download.

Good time to wait...

We're up visiting friends in Alpine Meadows, with limited net access -- I'll wait a while to update this.

And it would be nice to have a change list... But that's because I'm picky, and am used to such niceties with professional software developers and products.

Revision Logs = Nice

A rev log would be nice. Garmin does make rev logs available for some products, firmware I believe, and I think BaseCamp. There are changes I have been discussing with Garmin and I'd like to be able to see in a rev log if the change has been addressed to temper my expectations.

But Garmin Express revisions are happening faster than I use Garmin Express.

just how helpful is "improved stability" and "minor bug fixes?" Some minor bug fixes are truly minor and only show under specific conditions. But then some "minor" fixes Garmin has put out in the past have changed the user interface and done major feature changes.

Official List of Devices

Does any one know of an official list of devices that are compatible with Garmin Express?

As I mentioned in another thread about GE, all these updates are being reported as being required because of Garmin making it a requirement that folks with Garmin Connect (that watch thing for runners) use GE to update their devices BUT GE doesn't really work with the Garmin Connect. All to these updates are their mad scramble to get Express and Connect to play nice. rolleyes

What?

I wish there was some explanation of what is being changed.

Changes

Since the changes reportedly are for Garmin Connect, I would suspect there aren't any changes to the GPS units.

Still No Joy

GE is still not ready to maintain a Montana, although myGarmin tells me to go get and use Garmin Express to update the Montana.

When you are dead, you don’t know that you are dead. It is only difficult for the others. It is the same when you are stupid.

And we are up to V3.1.1.0.

I wish...

...they would spread the wealth and use some of the massive resources they are pouring into Garmin Express to fix the Blue Tooth low volume problem (that makes it basically useless) and/or the false indication traffic icon problem, i.e.: Green icon when there isn't even a traffic receiver connected to my 2595.

Dates of items in the package--

the dates for updated parts of the package (at least on my system) are April 1 at 8:33 in the morning. (in the Finder, select Garmin Express and then right clock or option-click to show package contents -- you can see what parts have changed).

Nuvi 2460, 680, DATUM Tymserve 2100, Trimble Thunderbolt, Ham radio, Macintosh, Linux, Windows

Another one!

Up to V3.1.4.0

And I must say, it appears to work with less anomalies. Not sure if it is doing what it is supposed to be doing.

Looking forward to see how it works when a revision, firmware or maps, comes out to see how Garmin Express works.

We now have V3.2.6.0

--
When you are dead, you don’t know that you are dead. It is only difficult for the others. It is the same when you are stupid.

New for V3.2.8.0

It now say that GE does not support my old StreetPilot 2720.

--
Steve - 2 Nuvi 3597

To Support or Not to Support?

With the 60CSx, earlier GE would look like it "supported" the 60CSx, but it really didn't. So with each new release, I was hopeful that GE would fully and properly support the 60SCx as it does my Montana and fenix.

So the new GE completely cuts ties with the 60CSx. GE doesn't know the 60CSx exists anymore.

Correction

Oops, make that V3.2.21.0

--
When you are dead, you don’t know that you are dead. It is only difficult for the others. It is the same when you are stupid.

update two-step...

I had 3.3.18.0, which consistently gave "update failed" when I asked the application to check for updates.

Okay, I'll pick up the latest version from the Garmin Website, which I did...

Except that the version from the website installed version 19.0, which when run immediately went into an update cycle downloading and offering to install an update...

Which was version 21.0, which tells me it is current.

I guess it's okay if it works, but it would seem to be simpler to have the latest and greatest available on the website...

(And I'm ignoring other issues -- when I did a Google search for "Garmin Express OSX" the Garmin site was the 4th or 5th thing in the list, with the top 2 being sites I did not recognize.)

I'll do another run at it over the weekend when I have more time.

Still no Linux packages ?

That's a shame - I'm stuck with needing a dedicated Windows machine, just to update my maps... And a machine that must be kept up to date on its OS, of course.

Oh - and don't mention WINE, I've tried that route and failed...

Spera is running Linux, that's why he is lamenting the lack of a Linux package. He could even run a Mac Guest on his Linux host, if he wanted.
