I've never been to one. Only 3 of 'em in the entire state of Iowa... Near each end of I-80...and one in greater Des Moines... The middle of I-80... So it's not like I was ever going to go to one before the current events came to pass... and current events won't change that...

Whatever

makes you feel good. I like the food and at a reasonable price. That's why we live in America for a freedom of, well freedom is fading but still it's our freedom and our choice. It's too bad everyone just can't get along but that's what happens. My opinions are different from yours and then we may agree but life goes on. Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and everything to everyone else that celebrates the coming of the Greatest Prophet on Earth or the Son of God. Good Night may God Bless.

Message of intolerance

Well, Mr. Robertson does preach a message of intolerance, and hate, which Cracker Barrel is trying to address.

So, it's not a message of intolerance and hate when someone attacks a Christian for defending what is written in their book, the Bible? The labels of "intolerance" and "hate" are very subjective in that they are only intolerable and hateful when those views don't agree with your particular beliefs.

You have a right to be offended...

but on the same note whether you agree with it or not everyone has a right to their own opinion. Having an opinion is one thing, acting on it is another.
Thank God we live in a country where people can express their opinions, even the ones I find stupid, cruel, racist or homophobic. I guess we could become North Korea where differing will get you sent to a camp or executed.
People in general seem so intolerant of other people's opinions and IMO make something out of nothing. It's just their opinion.
There's an old saying, "Just because something throws you the ball doesn't mean you have to catch it."
Phil was incredibly nieve to not understand the uproar that would follow his comments IMO. Whether you agree with Phil or not give him credit for one thing, honesty. For whatever reason he decided to honestly share his beliefs with the world and let the chips fall where they may. Try getting most people , let alone a politician to do this!
Honestly IMO the world would be a much better place if people expressed their opinions rather than repress them. I get so tired of being around posers who say one thing but I know by their actions or previous staements is untrue.
Nobody said honesty is pretty but it beats deception, lying and misrepresentation.

Merry Christmas

Cracker Barrel Ducked up!!! REVERSED its position!

On December 20, 2013, Cracker Barrel announced it would no longer sell certain Duck Dynasty products after Phil Robertson stated his personal beliefs about sin and homosexuality in a GQ interview. On December 22, the company REVERSED its position after protests from customers.

Mike Huckabee boycotts Cracker Barrel over Duck Dynasty uproar

http://dailycaller.com/2013/12/22/mike-huckabee-boycotts-cra...

“Cracker Barrel has decided it wanted to be the first big corporate sponsor to distance itself from Phil Robertson and in doing so, it has decided it doesn’t want ‘his kind,’ in their stores,” Huckabee said on Facebook. “Well, I’m ‘his kind,’ so they won’t be seeing me at their tables in the future.”

He added: “If it’s his Christian beliefs that make them uncomfortable, then we all need to know.”

Well Said

Amen well said Box Car...they want us to erode our values so they don't feel bad about what they do. As ole John Hagee said " Would God judge sodom and gomorrah and not America ". That whole interview was a setup....read today Cracker Barrel said " we made a big mistake...put the stuff back in the stores.

Huckabee is being intolerant

Now, it seems Huckabee is the one being intolerant of Cracker Barrel, for saying he wont eat there (lil rhetoric there, so dont take me too seriously). I am for free speech, for Mr. Robertson, and for Cracker Barrel. I was not going to boycott Cracker Barrel for either stance. I only eat there maybe 3 times a year, so I dont matter too much to their bottom line. I still like Mike Huckabee for what he stands for. For the record, I am for Bible principles. In the end, the all mighty dollar, and capitalizm will dictate whether Mr. Robertson remains on TV, and Cracker Barrel's decisions on the matters.

Cracker Barrel

I've never particularly liked Cracker Barrel's menu, my wife does but I'm not too keen on it. Be that as it may, it has nothing to do with the Duck Commander situation. I truly believe a person, any person, should be able to speak their mind, and beliefs. I'm all for the Robertson's. If I see a show that I don't agree with I turn the channel, isn't that what the remote is for? I read on a website today that the A&E Channel has exclusive rights to all merchandise that is labeled Duck Commander or Duck Dynasty, but not so Buck Commander. So even though Cracker Barrel has reinstated the Duck Dynasty items, depending on how it's labeled they reap the rewards anyway. Who knows....? I'm behind guys like Phil though, for saying what he believes in and standing by it.

I guess they didn't hear what happened to Chick Fila

If I see a Duck T anywhere I'll buy it. Never watched the show, but about time we start fighting back.

Duck Commander is owned by the Robertsons... Dynasty is A&E... CB sold Commander gear from what I've heard... And they were only going to not sell the stuff with Phil prominently depicted...but the blowback changed their mind.

My $0.02 - The real deal is A&E knew, or had to know what they were getting into...it's not like the Robertsons views were some huge secret...A&E wanted a modern day "Beverly Hillbillies" show but got something else that turned into a hit. But the elitists running A&E truly dislike the morality and religious aspect of the show, and tried to use this as an excuse to eliminate or reduce that which they (A&E suits) find utterly distasteful.

i had hoped this issue wouldn't come here ...

... guess I was wrong.

Sometimes, some things are overexposed or over-saturated, and maybe now would be a good time for everybody to step back, take a deep breath and see what else is on television.

about doing a 180...

The 180 has little to with it, its the attempt to bow down to the minority group LGBT that back fired on Cracker Barrel.

It's about time, we stand up to these different groups and any small minorities, that try to push their agenda on the majority.

Tell these groups: since your standing, sit down and shut up. We are not interested in your bullying way to control your agenda. And tell Cracker Barrel, you made your bed

One argument about intolerance you don't hear as often is the old meme about your mind being like a parachute and it functioning better when open. It seemed to me the argument was most often advanced by those that didn't want an opposing view.

...am glad that Cracker Barrel backed off on their decision. It is time that the Bible based community started standing up to the LBGT. I don't go around announcing to everyone that I am heterosexual. I don't see why they have to announce they are homosexual. God didn't create Adam & Steve, it was Adam and Eve. And we all know what the Bible says about homosexuality. Whether you believe it or not is up to each individual. There are a whole lot more staight people than there are gay people. This was proven when the LGBT went after Chick-Fil-A. They thought they would bring them to their knees. Didn't work. Same thing with Cracker Barrel. If Cracker Barrel had stuck with their decision, they would have paid the consequences monetarily. And, I think they realized that after they made their first hasty decision. Cracker Barrel is a business and if they relied on the LGBT community to keep them open, they would be bankrupt in a month. The LGBT folks are very vocal but that is pretty much where it ends. The rubber just doesn't meet the road where the LGBT is concerned.

Funny...

I find all the comments about Phil to be comical at best. A bunch of yuppies turned southern rednecks making money off of everyone is hilarious, and quoting the bible, is even funnier still. They are counting the money coming in.... (wrap yourself in the flag, and wave the bible around will get you elected in some states, just ask some of our current politicians)

Opinions are fine

When opinions degrade to so-called "bullying" and/or threats, this ceases to be anything related to open-mindedness or free speech but rather a subtle form of aggression.

It's almost funny when extremist/minority groups cry for free speech for their own opinions but refuse this right to others.

Yup, your allowed any opinion, as long as it's not different from theirs....just like the government.

......and they call this progress............back to the stone age!

Message of intolerance

Phil preaches of the message in the Bible and never made a hate statement about anyone. He simple answered a question that CQ should have already new the answer. He was asked, "In your opinion, what is a sin?" and he told them his opinion of SIN and never said anything about hating anyone.

It's still a free country?

We all have a right (freedom) to express our opinions. That freedom is guaranteed by the constitution.

I like Cracker Barrel. The food is good and the gift shop has things I like. They have a right to change their food menu as well as items in their gift shop.

I've never watched DUCK DYNASTY. I have no problem with a member of the "cast" expressing their opinions. The opinion expressed is a freedom that should not be evaluated by somebody else's idea of political correctness.

Perhaps I was misunderstood when I suggested that following the money would illuminate & rule the day in this situation. (In fact that can be understood as an academic definition of politics). That's the way it has always been once a society starts generating surplus wealth (or the definition of economics).

I feel that A&E's candid admission & corporate behavior is actually a constructive addition to the national dialog. After all, don't like the politics or exposed social policy don't watch, as others have already stated. We have not degenerated to a Clockwork Orange situation with our heads tied with no control over the screens.

There are only two poles that matter: how we vote each day with our own dollars, & at the real poles, taken at every election. By definition we are thus active participants in both the economics & politics of our times. Every thing else is pretty much just noise & diversion. cool
