Just your typical firmware update. I guess some subtle effects will reveal themselves in due time.

I haven't noticed anything that changed so far, except that it will not calculate a route over 1000 miles. Says it can't do it. Used to say the route was too long and other parts would be added later, or to that effect. I haven't been on the road with it yet. Maybe today. I would have hoped for changes in the audio, but I don't detect any.

Can that be right? Both my Nuvis routinely do routes to Arizona from Illinois. (1660 miles)

I haven't updated to 4.00 yet but I was hoping that this update would solve the problem I have had with the 3597 since I first bought it. That problem is that on very long routes (west coast to Toronto) it would not calculate the whole route at one time.

This is the first Nuvi I've had that displayed this issue. Not a major deal as I don't drive 3000 miles at once anyway, just an annoyance when you trip planning.

I sure hope this fixed the sync issues with the iPhone and the Garmin Smart Link app. Sometimes my 2797LMT will not connect to the iPhone via Bluetooth automatically for the Smart Link traffic, weather, etc. and other times it will. (The fix is to turn off bluetooth on the Nuvi and then turn Bluetooth back on in settings which is annoying.)

Furthermore, sometimes, when in WIFI at home and pulling out of the driveway, it loses the data connection instead of switching over to the cellular towers and says that there is no data connection. You have to force the app closed and then reopen it. Sure hope 4.0 fixes this!

I tried again today to calculate a route over 1000 miles. It wouldn't yesterday but will today. Must be magic! The only thing I did was check it out on the road and travel a short route.

I noticed that coincidental with my updating to the new firmware on my 3597LMTHD, I am receiving weather information on the default (strongest) traffic station that did not carry the weather information previously. , Good deal.

so the firmware update get you weather info? that's something new.

No the weather information has been available on the 3597 for awhile now. Maybe the last firmware update to the one before, can't remember exactly. It also required an update of another piece of the Nuvi's software that was available using WebUpdater or Garmin Express.

I just downloaded the updates to my 3597 and used
the Garmin Express and had no problems. I recently
changed my internet to Time Warner Cable from a poor
WiFi system. The download took about 45 minutes,
Where before it took 4 plus hours. I won't hate
doing the updates anymore.

I was hoping they will fix traffic notification issue on 3597. But I did not notice anything about traffic notification fix.
It will not always pop up for traffic when there is traffic on your route.

connection from my 2797 to my Samsung S4 seems better, doesn't drop the connection between the two when using Smartlink on my last trip.

Before then it dropped often.
