AVIS Where 2 GPS POI Loader

Yesterday to my surprise and amusement, Avis gave me a StreetPilot C550 with my rental. There version is being marketed as Where 2.

I was very HAPPY as I was about to plug in my own GPS a StreetPilot i5.

My questions are:
1. Has anyone trying loading Red Light POIs onto the Avis GPS?

2. If so, how was this accomplished since it seems the Avis version of the C550 has its own software bundle from Garmin.

Thanks
Kirt

Interesting, I didn't know

Interesting, I didn't know that their's would be any different from a normal C550, what did it look like?

I am sure that you still would be able to upload custom pois, however, they might have restricted it from accessing them.

Looks the Same

I don't own a C550 so I don't know if the Avis version is aesthetically different.

Here is a link to a picture of their version:

one would think a 550 is a 550

If that's the case, one should be able to put custom poi's on an SD card and then use that.

The picture doesn't show the side with the sd card slot.

You can't just put the POIs

You can't just put the POIs on the SD card and expect it to actually work, can you? I think that you have to actually upload with the uploader so that the GPSr knows where the POIs are and reads the actual gpx file.

I thought that it was sorta cool that they include the real time traffic and weather with it at no extra cost.

I would think if I have my custom poi's loaded onto an sd card (as I do now) then remove the sd card from my c550, and put it into another 550, I think the custom poi's would show up as well as they did in my 550. Or any other sd card poi reading capable Garmin unit.
So with that logic, I'd also think if I took my sd card from my 550 and put it into an Avis 550, it should work the same, unless the Avis one has been modified to not work with sd cards. I could see everyone writing their poi's to the internal memory.

Maybe someone that has an Avis connection could check this out.

You know, I am so use to

You know, I am so use to keeping my POIs (.csv) files on my sd and then upload them to the internal memory, I didn't even think about if you keep the actual gpx file on the sd card. You are right, it should work. The GPSr should ask you if you want to load them to the 550 (the new one) and you can say yes.

you could select no, and be bugged each time you power up
or select yes, then select skip and not be bugged until data on the card changes.
