Spell Checker?

Did this site get a Spell Checker, or is IE 10 now using a spell checker when you enter text into panels? If I make a misspell, I get a red squiggly underline. Right clicking on it lists selectable spelling options.

I have the full MS office package, so I guess it may be using that dictionary if IE 10 is responsible.

I just recently upgraded from XP to Win 7 and IE got updated also.

Has anybody else seen this?

Yes

Yes, IE10 has a built in cheker checker--either seen as red squiggleys or auto-correct:

I didn't know clicking on the squiggly opens a selectable list. Unfortunately Firefox doesn't provide that feature, it shows a squiggly line but I'm unable to click it.

Just checking

Not sure about Firefox, but with IE10 it's a right-click, not the usual left-click that brings up alternatives. Have you tried that?

Should be able to RIGHT click on the spelling error squiggly and get a list of possible correct spellings. Just click on the one you want. Also you can add the word that Firefox things is misspelled to the dictionary if it's just a word that it doesn't understand or a spelling you want to use.

I Like

I like Tinyspell. It is portable - does not have to be installed.

Spill check, LOL

Actually the browser has no bearing on it. It is the Office program you would have installed such as MS Office and at least MS Word. Don't know if Open Office will do spell check in anything other than itself.

I am using Chrome. Whin i mak ann eror, i git redd lin undr thm. If I right-click on the misspelled word, it seems to me to be a function of Google. For instance, one of my choices is to ask Google for suggestions.

By the way, in the second sentence of the preceding paragraph, I got a beep on every "word" from my Tinyspell spell checker. Tinyspell does not think I should have a lower case "i" in a sentence, for example, and did not like "git".

Google (or whatever is putting in the red lines) did not object to either "i" or "git", by the way.

I also have a portable freeware package called WordWeb running all the time so that I can use its features to find a better word to use. It did find "git" describing the word as

Quote:

Noun
usage: Brit
1. A person who is deemed to be despicable or contemptible "only a git would do that"

What is nice about Tinyspell is that, when I misspell a word, Tinyspell will "beep" at me. I can then hit the chosen hot key and be shown a list of suggested words (and if I highlight one, it will replace the misspelled word for me or alternatively offer to add the word to its dictionary).

Since I just used "its", I wanted to check if I really needed to have included an apostrophe based on my usage. WordWeb gave me both common usages so I determined that I did not need the apostrophe after all since I intended it to be possessive rather than a contraction.
