Garmin 3597 bluetooth pairing issue with Google Nexus 4

Finally it worked.

It was very strange. But finally it worked which is a big relief. It is still not splitting audio and data connection. Before on my 2595, I could pair my phone for data with Garmin and audio with Blueant S4.

I installed Android 4.3.3 manually on my phone, so I had to reset it to factory default. Again I had great difficulty pairing Nexus 4 with my Garmin 3597.
I am not sure if it is Garmin or Nexus issue. But I did not have any issue pairing it with Nuvi 2595.

I just found out on Garmin Support site that Google Nexus 4 which is LG phone is not a Bluetooth compatible phone..

No wonder I am having so much difficulty in pairing. Do you think complaint to Garmin will produce any results. There should lots of Nexus 4 phones out there...

Interesting. I've had no problems with pairing mine with my 3790 at all. There should be no reason why the 3597 should be any different.

It seems Garmin has dropped the ball with FW, or drivers and is blaming the phone.

I had no difficulty in pairing my Google Nexus 4 with 2595. But now with 3597, it is a nightmare. I have sent an email to Garmin support. I am sure nothing will come out of this.

A quick question, what do you have the BT visibility timeout set for? I'm wondering if this is part of the problem.

I have kept one hour visibility time on my phone but no luck. I don't think it is visibility issue because you can detect Nuvi on phone side too. My Nuvi detects my phone as Nexus 4. When I select pair, then it displays message with pass code key on both sides ( phone and Nuvi). When you touch yes to pass code key, it will try pair on phone and after few minutes, it will show are paired but nothing on Nuvi side, it still display Nexus to be paired.

I had to reset Bluetooth on Garmin many times to make it working.

Garmin support has confirmed that Google nexus 4 phone is not supported phone for Bluetooth. They asked me to send them deatils of the phone so that it could be tested in the near future.

I can't imagine that Garmin doesn't support a BT v4 on a new device. That's ridiculous.

I have the Nexus 4 and have just ordered the 3597 so very disappointed the hear of BT pairing problems. Have you had any helpful contact from Garmin over this issue?

You should be fine. If you run into problems, please make sure you removed nuvi 3597 Bluetooth profile on your Nexus 4. reboot both devices and try again. It will pair. Initially, I had issues but now, if I reset my Nuvi and pair it again, it pairs without any glitch.

3597 arrived today. Paired straight away with Nexus 4 so all happy

Great news. It is great device. I love the maps with 3D terrain and other advance features..
