Temp shown after update

After the latest update in the bar on top before viewing the map, my 3597 now displays the temp for my location next to the time. Anyone else notice this?

.

Are you sure that it's not the internal temperature of the device? (Rather than "the temp for my location"?)

I didn't notice that on my

temp

hi temp was showing on the top bar as you described but not all the time also there was the option to have that in the bottom of the display where you have direction of travel or speed but the green cross for temp was always greyed out , that 3597 also had a problem with the sound so i returned it after a few days and got another 3597 ,i have just updated the maps and software but now the temp does not show on the new device , do you have that temp only when the device is connected to the traffic receiver .

Changes made from version

Changes made from version 2.80 to 3.20:

* Added support for the new HD Weather feature when using compatible HD Traffic cables. The feature is only available in areas where HD Traffic is available. In order to view localized text for this feature, you must download the latest translations.
* Added support for the Environmental Zones feature for areas where the appropriate map data is available
* Improved route comparison logic for alternate routes on the Traffic page.

* Added support for playing different audio tones to differentiate between static safety cameras and mobile safety cameras.
* Added city, state, and country names to the points of interest search results list, where applicable.

* Fixed an issue that prevented subcategories from displaying in the Michelin Green guide.
* Fixed issues found in the Up Ahead feature.

Temp

I would sure like to have the Outside temperatur on my nuvi 2595

.

That would be really great.

Nice feature

My old truck had a temp display in the mirror, and it provided ice warnings sometimes even when the temp was above 32F. It was handy on days with large temp changes when you weren't expecting ice at the start of your trip. It would be cool to get that feature back on the GPS.

Temps

There is NO way you would get outside temperatures on your GPS unless it had a wired or wireless temperature transmitter somwhere mounted on/under your vehicle.

Otherwise you would get some extremely high dash temperatures!

Excepting of course if transmitted in via traffic receiver FM signal, but that would NOT necessarily be at your car.

I have a digital compass on the dashboard which with an externel sensor gives me outside temperatures as well inside (Dashboard) temperatures. The dashboard temps can go up into the 120 degree mark even with the AC on!!!

temp and smart phone

hello i have an iphone 4s and have the garmin smart link downloaded from the app store for free , when i turn bluetooth on on the phone and also on the nuvi 3597 i do get the temperature showing on the status bar, but that disappears as soon as i turn bluetooth off ,this by the way is when i am using the device in the house ,so i think it will only work if using a data plan when traveling , but i also found that if you press the help button on the garmin and then type in the word temperature it will bring up a page that tells you that the temp icon is part of the top status bar ,so don't know why it only shows up when connected to bluetooth. by the way the previous 3597 that i had returned did briefly show that icon even when i had not connected it to my iPhone .

perhaps

When the Bluetooth is enabled, the GPSr is using the iPhone as an Internet connection...

You'll also see a new

You'll also see a new weather app from the 3597 main menu Apps.
The HD cable weather works great but I wish it was more complete with information such as the weather map like the smart phone link.
The phone smart link almost never links with my iPhone.

yeap

yes, that would be great, I could remove the cheap little digital thermother I placed in my car!

3597 weather

The 3597 weather feature also shows the predicted high and low temps for the week and the current humidity.

This sounds cool

It sucks to be in a non-traffic area though. I can't see it.

Weather on Nuvi

look at page 37 of the manual for the Nuvi 3500 3550 3590 Series about Garmin Live Services.

Weather???

Garmin can't get Garmin Express to work correctly, now they are working on the weather! Hmmmmmm?

Again, another useles feature

Most Cars/Trucks can have this feature with sensor externally wired. GPS is a Nav device, Why gunk it up with non Nav features to add cost and chance of malfunction/Batt use

Other car

The car before our Honda Odyssey had temp and direction.
Did not realize the Honda didn't have it. I miss it so much.
We are now looking for a new car and that is the second thing I ask.
The first is cup holders, how big (has to hold cup from Giant Burger at 287 and 114 intersection near Fort Worth) and how many. smile

outside temp only

mgarledge wrote:

My new Mazda has outside temp, but lacks direction. I do wish it also displayed inside temp. As for direction, that is somewhere on the GPS but I really never pay attention to it. So I guess not having it cleverly displayed on the rear view mirror or some other place isn't really a big deal.

Outside temperature

I bought an I/O thermometer with two wireless sensors for our Arizona trip. I placed one sensor behind the front bumper of the old truck, and the other in the big ice chest. Pretty slick.
I have never needed a compass. (It's guy thing)
