If you are heading to Alberta this summer be ready for some delays and minor disappointments.
Recent flooding resulted in major damage that closed the Trans Canada Highway near the Banff Park Gate. It just reopened on June 26 and traffic is moving through very slowly.
Kananaskis Country, immediately east of Banff Park suffered severe damage, and the golf course (one of the most picturesque in the province) is closed until 2014.
Anyone travelling to the Calgary Stampede should know that downtown Calgary was flooded - the downtown area was evacuated and closed for three days!
Including the Stampede Grounds, where they hold the rodeo. The organizers claim they will be ready to go, but the event takes place in two weeks.
In typical cowboy style, the theme for this year will be Come Hell or High Water!
Flooding
The show will go on. Ya'all come down for a good time. The Stampede is on, downtown is coming back and the cleanup is going strong.
