nuvi 3590 not showing split screens on turn approachment

 

Hi all

I am trying to track down an issue with my refurbished 3590.
It is not displaying the split screen turn information as
the vehicle gets close to the appropriate intersection
during an active route. The 3590 continues to show the wider view with the various streets and an arrow showing the turn.
There is no voice announcement of the pending turn either.

There is an active route (Portland airport(PDX) OR to Government Camp OR).

What is strange is the 3590 does the standard voice
announcement at the start of the route ("Please follow the
highlighted route"), and it announces the standard route completion announcement at the end ("approaching ....").
The route is highlighted in Magenta (purple).

If I preview the turns of the active route (by touching the
next turn text at the top of the nuvi display, I see all of
the turns in the active route. If I touch any of the turns
listed, I see the proper split screen (English text on the
left, and the enlarged Junction view on the right).

Here are the hw/sw versions on the 3590:
software version (7.90),
maps (CNNA NT 2014.10 ALL +3D),
the std Junction view file (D3191090A.JCV) in the .System/JCV,
the latest American English Jill TTS file (v 3.20),
voice command (v 2.30 American English)
text version (7.90 American English),
GPS version (2.28.12)

Voice Language is Am English - Jill,
Text Language is Am English.

Space on the 3590 is not an issue, there are 2 Gb free.

Both voice command and traffic are working, just the
turn announcement and JCV display are not.

In the Garmin directory, things are enabled...

I'm wondering if there's an entry missing.

Any ideas/things to check or reset would be appreciated.

I wish more people would provide such comprehensive information when having an issue.

It seems the Nuvi should be functioning normally with what is loaded.

When this malfunction occurs, was it after a map or software update?

You can try changing the voice from Jill to Jack to rule out a corrupt Jill voice.
You may also want to try a hard reset making sure your favorites are backed up and prepared to re-tweak any settings you have made.

Thanks for the comments muell9k - I was thinking along
the same lines, but I wanted to check to see if
anyone had run into the same situation and
found a shorter path to resolving the problem.
I had done searches on poi-factory and on google
with no luck.

I want to say that the map update was the only change,
but I could be wrong.

I went through reloading the latest maps + I reloaded
the latest software and voices. Plus I pulled the
32 Gb SD card before redoing the update.

I am happy to report that the 3590 is back working with
complete turn voice announcements and split screen
previews.

The form of my original report stems from a long time
in the software development area and (at times) having to
resolve issues that users run into.

Also the 3590's traffic reporting/rerouting actually
helped me get around the repaving action on I-205
near the Portland OR airport. I saw the postings
others have commented on the traffic reports
and I was a little skeptical about the
reroute - but it was right. The path was
much faster than trying to thread through the
the construction scene.
