Uphill or Downhill

Nuvi 1350
I noticed that the ECO feature is a little strange as follows....
When doing a steady speed, it seems to show 'green'

when you let up on the gas (going downhill) it does not always show an eco desirable advantage (increase mpg) and when going uphill at a constant speed it does not show a less-desirable mpg.

You would think with altitude readout it would show a more desirable mpg since you are 'coasting' (downhill) and when going uphill at a constant speed you should be using more gas (mpg).

Explanation?

If at first you don't succeed....redefine success

I disabled mine

it was inaccurate and never made sense.

Intersting

Believe the main idea behind EcoRoute is to go the shortest route and not necessarily to achieve the best MPG. Below is a link to a 2010 Garmin article on ecoRoute HD that details the broad purpose. While this has not provided a 100 percent explantion, I suspect you drive like me, try to get the maximum return for the high price of gas. Good luck.
