nuvi 1490 lane assist problems

nuvi 1490
When lane assist displays the up coming intersection it only appears on screen for about 3 seconds and shuts off. Anyone else had this experience and is there a way to make it display until the interchange has been completed.

Do you mean Junction View?

On my 1490 the lane assist stays on until I pass the intersection. However, the Junction View only stays on for a few seconds. I don't know of a way to make the Junction View stay on longer.

Full screen vs. split screen

As already stated, I expect you're asking about Junction View disappearing rather than Lane Assist since I think all lane assist displays remain until you're through the interchange in all nuvi models that offer LA. Let us know if we're wrong. Lane Assist is the tiny display in the upper left hand corner of your nuvi with several arrows and the desired lane arrows that you need to be in are brighter. Junction View is a "photo" of the upcoming junction as you'd see looking out your windshield with a pink arrow showing which lane you should be in.

As far as I know, the older model nuvis that offer full-screen Junction View will show the JV for only a few seconds before they disappear again. The newer split-screen JV nuvi models offer a JV until the junction is passed by. Is your 1490 a full-screen JV display or split-screen?

For the full-screen JVs that disappear after a few seconds, you should be able to tap the Lane Assist area of your display to have the JV reappear.

Recall Junction View on 1490

Yes. Just tap the lane assist which will bring up the maneuver, then tap "Junction View" on the bottom of that page. The photo will again reappear for 3 seconds. Then the maneuver appears briefly, then the map screen appears.

I did not know that. I'll have to check that out.

It is JV that I was taking

It is JV that I was taking about thanks for the correction. I only make note of this because I have a friend with a 2555 ( I think that is the model) and it displays the JV until you actually make the exit or lane change complete. Is this a feature of the newer models?

It only works on newer models that support split-screen JV/moving map (screen split in half with JV on one side, moving map on the other). The models that show only the JV will show the JV for a fixed 13 seconds which you can override/cancel earlier than the 13 second time frame by pressing an on-screen button (requires user intervention). The 13 second time frame is not configurable.
