So far..I really like it

I just got mine yesterday and like it a whole lot. The Garmin "real voice" is very nice and what I most like about it there is no more "recalculating" I'm not going to miss that at all. I have not used it a whole lot, just a little bit around town but the satellites pick up real fast, the voice is clear and so far I'm impressed. I'm using the program file that came with it...Garmin express...to update all the software and maps right now. The map file is going to take 3 hours it says.

have had my 2557 a few weeks now

So far I like it, no problems. Recalculates pretty quick, and has lots of options for displaying Trip data, arrival times on the screen, including A & B odometers or arrival to next Via point, etc.

Before I purchased it, in my research I was under the impression it does NOT allow you to specifically Avoid routes and areas. The model DOES have this feature however. You can pick two points on a road (it will exclude between), or Box an area on the map with 2 diagonal points.

My old 40LM had only Shortest, Fastest, and Off-Road route options. The 2557 adds Fuel Saving route option. And when you save a Route with multiple destinations, you can also specify how you want that set (Shortest, for example).

One thing I noticed that I really like is I can not only search (by name) the pre-loaded POI's, but all POI's including my Custom and Saved one. Sometimes for me that is the fastest way to find something (without trying to remember what folder it is in).

When new traffic congestion data is available, it pops up a box on the right hand side with estimated delay time.

Nuvi 2557LMT

I have been using this unit for over a year now. It is the best gps that I ever have used. The real directions/voices are very nice. I just like everything about it.

Been very happy

I have two of them and have had no problems. Quick to recalculate (and I second that I don't miss the "recalculating") and the speaker is clear to understand. Have driven a few trips with them and have been very happy.

Redlight Camera POI File not displaying text

Been using the Redlight Camera file in my Nuvi 2557 for quite some time now and until the other day when I was with a friend and noticed that on his Garmin (Nuvi 68) along with his "Audio" alert to the redlight, he also has a "pop up bubble text message" on the screen.

For some reason my Nuvi 2557 doesn't have this?

Is there some way I can get this to happen?

Thanks

This "feature" was on some models that have been discontinued for several years.
