Issues and Answers (Map Updates)???

cool

First let me purpose or suggest that with each new map update, we the community start a new forum topic just for that new installment of the map?

For Example:

2013.40 Issues and Answers:
This forum would address all the known issues of map update 2013.40 and attempt to provide a common sense answer to the known problem?

Why?...
Those with lifetime map updates would know what to expect in that release and those who do not can make a sound decision on rather to purchase the recent release or wait for the next map update?... All of the community would benefit from the information gathered.

Allow me to start if I may?...

2013.40 Issues and Answers:
Issue: Wrong Speed given in a known "Heavy Enforcement Area" in Dallas, Texas and south of it!
The speed limit will show 75 MPH on I-45 from south of I-20 all the way to downtown Dallas. The TRUE/POSTED speed is 60 MPH. 2013.40 has given Dallas county a NEW SUPER HOV (all lanes included!)
Yes, all things are BIG IN TEXAS including the CITATIONS!!!
Answer: "Don't follow the leader" (Garmin/Slogan) LOL...
A GPS is just a aid and not something to fully depend on during travel. Verify your speed often and keep this TRUCKER RULE OF THUMB... Read every sign with a NUMB3R on it and it shall keep thee safe, wealthy, and wise.

Hope this has helped, let the posting begin:...

Thanks for your ear.

Makes sense

I have not yet downloaded, but when I do I will report both the good and the bad things I find

Might be

Might be useful for the reason's you state, but on the other hand just documenting speed limit differences or even incorrect roads in this forum will not get anything changed. We need to report these issues to Navteq and Garmin, which in the long run maybe a better use of our time.smile

Also I would thing we would need to be sure this thread contained only mapping issues, like the one you use as an example. If we use it to report installation problems then we will just end up with one more thread having the same issues that have been detailed in 2 or 3 or 4 other places.

Nuvi 350, 760, 1695LM, 3790LMT, 2460LMT, 3597LMTHD, DriveLuxe 50LMTHD, DriveSmart 61, Garmin Drive 52, Garmin Backup Camera 40 and TomTom XXL540s.

Most of these problems are not Garmin/Navtec

Yor local Trans Dept is the one responcible/At fault for most of these problems as they send in the updates. Here, Pima County and Tucson can take 4 years to show up on Navtec, and some parts of the Country take only a year or two.

To me this is nothing more

To me this is nothing more than a "lets make a changelog" thread. The entire reason Navteq and Garmin don't do changelogs for each map update is that the number of changes are so voluminous as to be virtually useless to anyone but an obsessive/compulsive.

Could you imagine just how large this thread would be if everyone actually did post the things they found wrong in the map updates? It'd be a never-ending process; something Navteq is quite aware of. They have a fleet of vehicles that do nothing but drive about all day, every day, mapping changes to the roads.
