Garmin Travel Guide

Just curious if anyone has tried the Garmin Travel Guide?

I travel to a half-dozen various cities anually and typically stay for around 30 days each. Finding good local restaurants is always a challenge. By "Finding
good" I'm not just refering the the navigation piece. I'm referring to getting a good idea of which restaurants to choose.

I'm wondering what my options are to solve the above situation.

I just loaded both the

I just loaded both the Travel and Savers Guides onto my C550. A quick check of local offerings tells me that the Savers Guide is probably going to be more useful than the Travel Guide -- at least for me. This is because it's categorized by current location, rather than by metropolitan area and many small businesses are represented.

The restaurant descriptions are truly on the skimpy side but if you're beyond the end of the earth with no otherworldly idea of what is available (like I often am), it's going to be a big help.

In your particular situation, the Travel Guide will probably be a much better fit, assuming that your "various cities" are listed. The restaurant descriptions in the Travel Guide are considerably more verbose.

It's the Fodor's Travel Guide, by the way, re-branded by Garmin.

North American Travel Guide

Hi, I'm new to this site and would like to comment to your question. I have a Nuvi 350 and have installed the NA travel Guide. I find the information very helpful when planning a trip to a certain location. It list most major location with information like hotels, food, tips, when to travel and what to see, detailed description of the site, restaurant, etc. with prices too.It also describes the menu of the restaurant, best time to see a site or park, local weather you can expect during that time of year. It's just too much to describe really. The travel guides in my opinion are worth the money.

Travel Guide

What am I doing wrong? I'm using a Garmin 660 with the Travel Guide loaded. I go to the Travel Guide and tell it to find places "near where I am now" and it always starts with some place in Maine...even when I'm in California.
