Map Source Still Available?

A friend needs to install Map Source and I am not sure if it is still available from Garmin. All links that I have seen point to a Garmin site that is for updating a previous version and not a new install. My friend already has Base Camp but wants Map Source.

Anybody have a source for Map Source?

John

None official

Garmin's got their eggs in the BaseCamp basket.

Try google for an unofficial Mapsource download.

Direct Link

Still available from Garmin's website, and expected to be for the foreseeable future.

Keep in mind that while the software still works, there will be no updates of any kind whatsoever for it. Also do not expect technical support from Garmin should it molest or otherwise violate your computer by doing something your computer doesn't like.

I can still find old software and firmware for devices over 12 years old.

one thing

Just remember that MapSource download from Garmin is a update. So if you try to install it you will get error that previous version were not found and installation cannot continue.

But there is a way to get past it. From what I read on different forum you should install BaseCamp first. If you do this, than this MapSource update should install without problems.

Correct!

This is correct - I had to do this for myself as I like the way MapSource allows the individual handling and display of routes. I use it solely for managing my bicycle routes for my Edge 650.
