are favorites automatically deleted?

My girlfriend and I are having a friendly debate. She insists that, over time, our Garmin Nuvi 265 WT deletes certain favorites, saying that she's sure we saved them as favorites at one time and now she can't find them.

I can't believe that the GPS would do this, seeing no reason for it.

Can anyone settle this? Thanks.

You never know, with poor

You never know, with poor programming, it might erase favorites randomly. I would never say never.

Are Favorites Automatically Deleted?

I have 2 Garmin GPS units and I believe that there is a limit of 50 stored Favorites after which the oldest is deleted as a new one is entered. I did not like this limitation so I created a POI file of all my Favorites and called it My Favorites.csv. I used Excel to create it and saved that file in its own directory preceding the directory name with 01 so it would be the first to be listed when I go to Extras to access my Custom POIs. I currently have 160 locations in My Favorites and can access them at any time. I generally leave the Garmin Favorites with only Home listed. As I travel and save more listings to the Garmin Favorites, I regularly access that list and transfer the ones I wish to keep to My Favorites file and update my Garmin POIs then delete the remainder from Garmin’s Favorites. Since I almost always have at least one of my Garmin GPSs with me, I also created a file for my complete address book with name, address, city, st, zip, phone, and email address. That has come in quite handy in my travels.

If she can remember a location, city, town or any place where she believes a Favorite was at one time then try this.

Place your GPS in Simulation mode.
Use "Where To?" to find that location, town, etc.
Once it shows the location on your map select "Set Location".
Now go back to "Where To?" and select your Favorites.
Then select "All Favorites" and see what comes up near by. It may have a different name.

Have you reset the device

Have you reset the device lately? The favorites and routes from backup files really can cause havoc.
