Nuvi 2555lmt original Poi file location?

Hello everyone, new to the forums. I have upgraded the maps on my nuvi 2555lmt since I have lifetime upgrades. My question is, can I extract the updated poi file from the 2555 and move it over to my wife's nuvi 1490?

Has anyone with a nuvi 2555 been able to find the Garmin loaded POI's. I have limited knowledge in this, but I've looked in the usual locations (.system\poi, garmin\poi, root\poi) and can't find any filenames ending in the usual extensions. Not sure I know all possible extensions. I do know GPX and GPI.

I don't have lifetime upgrades on her GPS and the only complaint I have is newer locations are not listed in her point of interests (obviously). I know I can download all kind of custom poi's from here, but, I don't think she will remember how to get to custom poi's or be happy having to go through the trouble.

Thank you for any help you can offer. This is a great place and I've already learned a lot reading here.

The built in Points of Interest are part of the map data.

You cannot "extract" them.

If you want to update a second unit, then you need to pay for a second update.

The bad news for your family is that the builtin POIs are built into the map file and can't be extracted, as least as far as we know. Even if extractable, they could well be locked to the GPS with the lifetime map updates and not work on another GPS.

Just in case it's of use, I see that Garmin's numaps Lifetime North America is available at Amazon for $53.90 with free S&H and the order is Fulfilled by Amazon. Buying, then using this card would let the 1490 always have current maps as well as current built-in POIs.
