I gots myself a new 3590lmt. Gotta do a back up of it...but
its not showing all the files. I plug in my 3790LMT and it shows all the files. Folder options are set correctly to view hidden files and system files. I never change that.
So where's the .System directory?
You're Missing MTP Setting
Below link will guide you to change yout MTP setting.
Read Post # 2 and skip to step 2 since you've already done the unhide setting in Windows.
Directions should be the same for your 3590.

I would have never figured that out. Never saw a post in here about that either. Must have bin though, since the first thing that is taught in here...do a back-up. Thanks a whole bunch, works now.

Learned something new tonight.
It's not over yet
Now lets try this. Backup isn't working yet. Seems there's a file that is giving me grief.
sys_log1_ÿÜq.bin
Its not letting me delete it yet. Telling me its not a valid or too long. Can't open it either, path doesn't exist. It made this one today sys_log1.bin and in the process i guess renamed the other one to that goofy looking one.

Try a command prompt
You could try to delete it the old way using a command prompt window and wild card.
del sys_log1_*.bin

del sys_log1_*.bin
Your way will also delete the other bin file..no biggy could make a copy of it but as you can see, i need to get rid of the attributes first.
M:\.System\Diag>attrib -a -h -s -r *.*
Unable to change attribute - M:\.System\Diag\sys_log1_ÿ♫Ü♫?q.bin

Corrupt directory entry
Looks to me like the directory entry for the file is corrupt.
Perhaps a hard reset might remove it. (be sure to backup your favourites before you do)

Oh well...enough fooling around. Formatted it...done deal. Reloaded the back-up I made omitting that dumb file. Lets hope I don't end up being the dummy and I actually need that file. Seems I'm not the only one having tried to delete it. Didn't find a post that solved that problem.
Thanks for helping

You R Not Alone
I also have a similar file that always hangs up when doing a backup. It has some odd character in it that my system does not like. I have also tried to delete it but to no avail. So I just skip that file when it gets to it during my regular backups.

All is well that ends well. File is gone, pois and favorites loaded. Deleted everything I can think of.
4.81GB used 2.52 Free. Checked my 3790LMT. Quite a bit of difference. 4.33GB used 2.95 Free

Good to hear you got it sorted out.
As for the file you could not remove, there are free programs out there that can do it. Just do a Google search for "delete locked Windows files".
I use Mlawarebytes free anti-malwarebytes program which I find to be a good program. Within Malwarebytes they have a tab called "More Tools".
If you click on the tab it will bring up a program named File Assasin. Navigate to the file you want to delete and select it. It will then require a reboot and most of the time it deletes the file.
Sometimes it doesn't work with Windows files since Windows recreates the file on the next boot.
One disappointment is it will not remove folders, only files.
The File Assasin program alone is also available as a download.
Although I've never tried using it on a Nuvi, I would imagine it can delete a stubborn file.
