Not yet!

Of the many problems I have had with routes, turning off while calculating is not among them.

Yes

My 1490 was constantly locking up or shutting down and rebooting arbitrarily during navigation. It was so bad that after a 3,000 mile trip I replaced it with a 3590.

Well, shortly afterward, Garmin had a firmware update which addressed this issue supposedly. I've used the 1490 occasionally since then and have not experienced any further shutdowns. However, I've probably not had it running long enough to say that the update helped completely.

One other issue I was having with the 1490 was that it wasn't showing traffic on the traffic map. So, before initiating the last firmware update I restored the 1490 to its "as purchased" configuration from a backup made immediately after buying it.

Firmware? Hard reset?

I'd first use WebUpdater to make sure you have the latest firmware.

You could also try clearing your Trip Log.

Beyond these thoughts, a hard reset can do wonders:

I had done all of that before restoring, then updating firmware. It didn't help.

Not sure how to explain

Seems I've had that happen sporadically but on a Nuvi 255. Not sure how to explain it.

Random?

Both my 1390 and 1450 restart randomly. I think it is due to limited memory. Clearing the Recent Locations and Track Log seems to help.

A possibility

The USB port has became loose on the circuit board. If the battery is low, that would cause it to shut off and reboot. Garmin has replaced many of these units, sometimes at no cost.

1490T

I've been using my 1490T for the past 15 months and have never had an issue with it shutting down or rebooting while in use.

I recently had this problem on my 2460 and clearing and turning off my track log resolved my issue.
