Using Basecamp to create a file

When I looked at the FAQ for creating a POI file, I got a great deal of technical information about the detailed specifications buried within the file. That's not what I want to know.

Let's assume I want to upload a file to POI Factory. Let's assume that all of the points are contained within a single list within Garmin's Basecamp.

If I just exported the list out of Basecamp, would that work? I can export the list in the following formats:
GPX
GDB
CSV
TCX
TXT

Which format should I use?

Let me ask you a question. When you go to download a POI file from POI-Factory, what formats from your list are present?

It answers your question by answering mine.

POI Factory will accept CSV and GPX file types from that list. However, the CSV output from BaseCamp is not in a useable format for POILoader to compile, so stick with the GPX file type.

In Basecamp when looking at individual POIs, check the NOTE tab for any duplicate address information before exporting. It has a tendency to put duplicate address informastion in this tab. It won't hurt the POIs. It just shows on the GPS screen twice.

Again, welcome to the site and enjoy yourself with all the information here.
