Directions to POI

I have a Garmin c530 with many custom POIs loaded.
The alerts seem to all work fine however I thought (probably erroneously) that when an alert activated I should be able to touch the alert bar and the unit would divert me to the alert item, say a Starbucks or some other nearby attraction. However all I get is the alert itself. If I actually wanted to go to the alert item it seems I have to stop and manually enter it as usual. Is this the normal operation or am I missing something?

Nope, you've got it figured out. The alert will alert you that a POI is near. It won't automatically direct you to the POI.
Is that true with the Nuvi
Is that true with the Nuvi 660 as well??

When browsing the map, you can select the POI icon on the map, and then hit "go" on the lower right of the screen and it should direct you to the selected POI.

Yes, you actual have to select the POI either from the map or from the list and select Go. Just getting an alert will not direct you to the POI.
