I am waiting for more flexibility in this area. I know I am just one person, but this gives me no reason to buy a new car. Just keep the ole 96 and the Garmin!
We just bought a Ford Taurus with an in-car GPS. Love the car but I'm not really happy with the GPS unit. You can't add your own POI files, and it's much more difficult to "search" the preloaded POIs. After some cajoling, the dealer admitted that we would have to purchase update CD/DVDs ($75 each time) for the GPS.
The SYNC system from Ford does some really impressive things - too bad the GPS is such a drawback. Customer complaints and pressure on Garmin led them to reduce the cost of updates and, finally, to include them at no cost in most units. Perhaps the same action will work on Ford
I drove an edge as a rental last week and I couldn't even figure out how to change the volume on the radio. I accidently bumped it and it came on quite loud. I couldn't initially figure out how to turn it down or off. I pulled over and figured out how to turn it off. I never did figure out how to turn it down.
Ford vehicles already turn me off with their "no gas cap" design and the non-standard headlight controls. There are good features of their designs too but I don't think I would seriously consider a Ford at the moment. My issues all amount to annoyances but why be annoyed with your new car? Why does Ford insist on being annoying?
You can't

All the worlds indeed a stage and we are merely players. Rush

Ford electronics are frustrating
