Map zoom on Nuvi 765

You can try to change your map settings for more detail.

Go to Tools> settings> Map> Map Details

thanks for your suggestion. But the problem was that while driving it will zoom out all of a sudden on its own. I fixed the issue last night by doing hard reset. Also I was one firware upgrade behind, so upgraded firmware too. Now all good. Today I drove to work and map did not zoom out at all.

Hard reset fixes many problems.
Good idea to always do a hard reset after a software or firmware update. Always backup your favorites though before doing the reset.

I will rarely if ever loan a piece of electronic equipment that has the ability to be customized. My six-year-old niece often borrows my iPhone or iPad and I find the icons rearranged and new groups created. As she explains, "it was messy".

There are 2 'fixed' zoom levelks. One is selected at low speed and the other at high (when routing you see the route left to travel).

Set both to the same value and it shouldn't change screen views when changing between settings, since they are both the same.

I recently acquired a Nuvi 765 after using a 760 for several years. The 760 would auto-scale the map too, but I agree that the 765 seems to do this more frequently and to a greater extent. As mentioned by bramfrank, it seems to cycle depending on speed - though I don't know how/where a setting for this would be changed. The algorithm must be good, because it almost always seems to display what I need/want to see. On the rare occasion it is not, I can still manually zoom in or out using the icons on the screen.
