"New" Garmin Traffic

Is it just me or is all this Garmin traffic name change stuff just hype? Does it really work or is it simply the same traffic data just fed in different time intervals? I think a smartphone equipped with maps and live traffic data runs rings around this Garmin traffic particularly because Garmin / Navteq traffic focuses only on highways and biways not surface streets.

PS - I love how when you click on View Current traffic conditions on their website, it says error. Have I made my point? LOL.

Wow doesn't sound very good.

Traffic depends on your

Traffic depends on your location and your signal strength.

Garmin's HD traffic is the best traffic they have ever had. So far I've used it in the Chicago area and several drives to Miami and the traffic has been a life saver. Not only does it tell you about highway traffic/accidents/construction it also tells you about accidents & traffic on non-highway roads. Great product.
Another great traffic product is the WAZE app for IOS devices.

Navteq traffic works well for me here in Tucson

I have Navteq traffic on my 3790LMT and in addition to the freeways I also get traffic info on the major streets in town also.

I have a Droid X with Google maps and the Inrix traffic app and find the Inrix traffic may be slightly better but the Garmin is heads and shoulders better than any smartphone for navigation duty.
