nuvi 3590 and panning a map

One thing about the 3590 that really annoys me is that you cannot pan the map out while the vehicle is in motion. Yes, it will pan, but as soon as your fingers are removed, it immediately returns to the scale it wants. If someone has found a setting to prevent this, I'd sure appreciate hearing about it.

Sounds like you've got autozoom turned on, which is probably the default. I'm not sure about the 3590 but you could look in Tools - Settings - Navigation - Automobile and if you scroll down, there maybe an Auto Zoom entry. If so, select it and tap Disabled and then Save.

If there is no Auto Zoom entry in the Navigation menu, you can get it my selecting a different country as your default locale. This requires a hard reset of your GPS so be sure you have a recent backup of your unit as you will need to reinstall your Favorites.

When you perform the hard reset the Nuvi will first ask what country you wish to use as the default. I always pick Australia. Then you answer any other questions asked and you will now have the Auto Zoom option in the Navigation menu.

Note that the reset will also require you to reset which voice you wish to use, which vehicle, etc. but with the exception of the speed limit sign being round instead of square on the map screen, your Nuvi will operate exactly the same as it did prior to the the reset.
