Broke my GTM-20

What a bummer this AM. Get to work, go to pull out the GTM-20 a little from the unswitched outlet to turn it off and BAM!!! - the GTM-20 practically falls out. The screw-in retainer that holds the power contact and fuse in had broken.

Fortunately GPS-City sells a Garmin repair kit for $4.95 + $1.99 shipping. I ordered 2 and opted for the 2 day shipping @ $8.80 (CA to VA). Since I have to partially un-plug it all the time, I ordered a spare to keep in my truck.

I also found out today that the "Traffic" still works even though it is not plugged into the outlet.

Of course, the battery doesn't get charged. So I'll have to charge it each night until the "Kit" gets here.

Seems that the screw-in retainer breaks all the time. If you have a GTM-2x, it wouldn't hurt to have a spare handy. With my luck, I'm surprised it didn't break on a road trip.

Same thing happened and super-glued it back together

Same thing happened to Sally's GTM-20 when she was visiting her son in South Carolina. Her son super-glued it back together and she never had another problem with it again.

That would make it difficult

That would make it difficult to replace the fuse if it blows.

I have two GTM20's sitting it front of me as I type, both Garmin OEM equipment.

The older one is a bit longer and cigar like shaped, and has the two light indicators on it.
this one is prone to breaking.

The second one I have is shorter, thinner, and doesn't have the lights on it. I suppose Garmin changed the design for the better to reduce breakage.
I hope the kits you bought were for the correct model # since both are marked on the tag as GTM20.

Edited Update:
From your signature you have the Nuvi 660, this is the longer one with the lights. I'm not sure if the repair kit will work since if it broke at the female threaded portion, the kit doesn't include that part.
